Juan Carlos Soto
Expressionist and Figurative Art
Deerfield Beach Florida

Painting is something I must do, and it has taken me a lifetime to finally fulfill my destiny, to do it otherwise would be to deny my own humanity. I am so blessed to internalize all these external emotions and life experiences into a work of art, in which a dialogue is established between the viewer and the painting.

The process of painting is never easy; one has to peel off layers upon layers of conditioned behavior until a resemblance of truth is reached, but in order to arrive at this truth, a painting goes through many changes: colors are scrapped, glazes are applied and textures are built until the painting actually "speaks" to me: thus, my technique consists in the use of bold color, expressionist brushstrokes, found objects, all conveying a sense of raw and loose energy into my art.

I am very much influenced by the work of the Italian Classics and the modern theories of the early twenty-century impressionists. Also, street art provides a rich source of new and fascinating material, which spurs my creativity; I'm a contemporary artist who is determined to chronicle our exciting world.
